A former member of the Rosalia Fire Department was arrested by Whitman County Sheriff’s deputies Sunday after he allegedly stole an ambulance from the department.

According to a WCSO media release, Kelly Brown, 35, was arrested Sunday at his residence on Whitman Avenue in Rosalia after he allegedly entered the Rosalia Fire Department at about 1 a.m. and drove away in one of the department’s two ambulances.

According to the sheriff’s office, Brown returned the ambulance at about 10 a.m. after several people reported seeing him driving the emergency vehicle. Deputies were also able to identify Brown through surveillance footage obtained at the fire department. Brown was arrested on suspicion of burglary, taking a motor vehicle without permission and second-degree malicious mischief. Brown’s arrest comes a few weeks after he was arrested in March for allegedly stealing radio equipment from the department and pawning it in Spokane.
