An allegedly drunken woman attending the Hot 97 Summer Jam concert on Sunday jumped into a marked emergency services SUV owned by MetLife Stadium and drove a short distance before crashing into a taxi.

Two people – the woman and a taxi driver – were taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to State Police.

Kiara Giles, 27, of New York City, was arrested and charged with assault by auto, receiving stolen property and driving while intoxicated, said State Police Trooper Alejandro Goez.

Goez said Giles hopped into an emergency services SUV owned by the New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority and drove a short distance before crashing into the taxi, a Ford Escape, on West Peripheral Road.

The vehicle was marked “emergency services” but was not an ambulance, Goez said.

Asked if the vehicle had been left running, Goez said: “That’s part of the investigation.”

Giles and the injured taxi driver, who was not named, were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center.
The incident occurred about 8:20 p.m. during the hip-hop event, which is held each year by radio station Hot 97.

The event featured rappers Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar.

Concert-goers are prohibited from bringing alcohol to the event, but alcohol is sold at the venue, according to fliers promoting the jam.

Including Giles, 26 people were charged at Sunday’s concert with offenses ranging from possession of drugs to soliciting without a permit, Goez said.

An AMR representative did not immediately return a call.
