Police in Lake City arrested a man they say stole an ambulance, took out a mailbox, and nearly hit a cop car.

Police say Tommie Woodard, 38, was a patient at Lake City Medical Center.

He became violent, forced open an exit door and jumped in the ambulance.

Officers were searching for the ambulance when one saw it coming right at them! Woodard lost control, drove over a mailbox and overturned the ambulance.

He was arrested on multiple charges including grand theft and criminal mischief.

He is in the Columbia County jail on a $28,000 bond.
