10/23/17 Man Steals Ambulance with Patient and EMT’s in Back Crashes in CVS

DANVILLE PA  — A man jumped into a parked Sunbury ambulance as ambulance crew fled out the back Monday morning at Geisinger Medical Center, stealing the emergency response vehicle before crashing a few blocks away.

The man crashed the Americus Hose Company ambulance into a yellow pole in front of CVS Pharmacy, on Mill Street.

The suspect then ran into the pharmacy and climbed over the counter. Police were quickly able to apprehend him but it is not known how at this time.

The suspect is in custody at the Mahoning Township police station.

No one was hurt and the ambulance was being towed away from the scene.

“We are very fortunate no one was injured,” Americus president Jerome Alex said. “Everyone on our crew made it out the back.”
