Stolen Ambulance Involved in a Crash

The Columbus Division of Fire said someone stole an ambulance while paramedics were inside a home helping a patient. It happened Saturday afternoon while paramedics responded to a call on Denune Avenue in Clinton Township.

The ambulance belongs to the Clinton Township Division of Fire.

Columbus Division of Fire Battalion Chief Steve Martin said the ambulance was involved in a crash near Oaklawn Street and East Lakeview Avenue. He said one male was taken into custody. Chief Martin said the ambulance is equipped with a tracking device.

The suspect drove for a short distance down Eastview Drive before exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot. Officers with the Eldon Police Department, Osage Beach Police Department and Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force assisted in the search for the female in a wooded area along Industrial Drive.

“An exhausted search was conducted and the female suspect was finally apprehended near Maple St. and 8th St.,” the release concluded. “Deputies sent additional charges to the prosecutor and the female’s identity will be withheld until she receives formal charges.”
